The 107 lbs motor came the other day, and it looks great!
It's pretty small compared to a car engine, measuring 15.5 inches in length and 8 inches in diameter
It has 2 spinning shafts on each side. One i probably wont use for anything, the other, ill use the adapter plate and shaft coupler (which are the only things that haven't arrived yet) to securely attach the shaft of the motor to the shaft of the transmission.

if it has 2 shafts you could find a way to mount a charging system to the other one allowing for you to have endless range. along with the fact that you wont be killing the battery's half life every time you drive.
There isn't really a praticle way the saves enough power to be effective. Regen Braking is really the only effective thing, but its very expensive. More info here http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8848
Hi Jake,
Now that the motor is there I bet you are anxious to hook everything up. The car looks beautiful after polishing it. Do you think it will be ready for the first day of school? When do you start school?
